Services
- Young Students. For young developing students, a clear, resonant sound is developed through proper breathing and full breath support. The beginnings of technical facility and accuracy in rhythm and note reading are emphasized. Priority is placed on enjoyment of the easier flute repertoire. Sight reading is strengthened through playing duets. RCM examinations are encouraged, but not required.
- High School and Maturing Students. A focused, resonant sound is first priority, one which includes a wide range of colours, dynamics and vibrato. Technical facility is fostered through dedication of practice of all major and minor scales and triads. Solo literature begins to move into the major flute repertoire depending on playing level with much emphasis on creativity. Playing of duets is continued for the development of rhythm, sight-reading, sensitivity to pitch and overall musicianship.
- University Bound and Career Students. For the student considering a career in music, a disciplined and structured program is fostered for polishing of sound development through integration of tone colours. Technical dexterity and musical creativity through expression and phrasing are a high priority. Guidance is provided toward successful university or orchestral auditions.
- Summer Programs
- Chamber Groups - Trios and quartets matched with students of similar abilities.
- Private Lessons - Spaces are limited, check for availability well ahead.
